Slow performance when saving layout in BIRT RCP Designer 2.3.1
jeremybirt
Hi experts,
I've been using BIRT plugin for existing Eclipse environment (2.2.2) to do my report design. Recently, I upgraded to 2.3.1 by installing a fresh new BIRT RCP Designer.
I moved my .rptdesign from the older version to the newer version. Everything works fine. However, whenever I modify the layout, the time it takes for 2.3.1 RCP designer to save is at least 5 times slower than my previous 2.2.2 plugin (from taking 2s in 2.2.2 to taking 10s in 2.3.1) .I'm working on the exact same .rptdesign file.
Why is 2.3.1 RCP designer so slow to save compared with 2.2.2 Eclipse plugin?

Hi jeremybirt,
I have not heard of this issue before. I don't have the 2.3.1 RCP version, but I have the 2.3.0 one and I don't see any delayed save time between it and the Eclipse platform version 2.2.2. I just checked with a very simple sample database report. Your report may be more complex and that may be part of it. If I find anything that may be a reason for this, I'll post it in here.

Thanks William,
Indeed my report is rather complex (more than 3mb).
The difference is too much for me to bear now. Meanwhile, I've reverted to Eclipse platform 2.2.2 for report design.
