Excel Formula Issue

Hi All, 
 
I am facing an issue thats exactly similar to this previously discussed issue. Unfortunately there wasnt a resolution for this. If anyone was able to get around this issue, pls let me know.

Heres the summary of the issue - 
 
I am outputting the data in a excel cell as '=SUM(A1:A5)' expecting to get the summation of the data in those cells, but I get the above string instead. 
 
If I 'F2' on the cell in excel and hit return. the formula takes effect and the summation is shown. I want to see the summation without manual intervention. 
 
Any help would be much appreaciated.

Unfortunately, I have not seen a way to export Excel formulas from BIRT. If you need that level of spreadsheet functionality, with working formulas, real charts, multiple worksheets, passwords, etc, then take a look at the e.Spreadsheet Designer. The resulting spreadsheet can be delivered from the same application as your other reports using the e.Spreadsheet Engine's JAR files. It is an inexpensive solution and will give you the Excel formulas you need.
