Report 2 :- Cross Tab
nuraniuscc
Hi Mike,
In a Cross Tab, there is a Row(Dimensions) and Column(Measures). According to my understanding
Groups are for Rows and Summary fields correspond with Columns.
With that Understanding I have assignend certain column names from my Dataset, But when I preview I don't see the actual values, I just see the column heading which is a Date type Data.
Could you please elaborate on the use of Cross Tab, Just so I can ensure that everything I have defined is correct?
Thanks
Nurani Sivakumar

Hi Nurani,
The groups (dimensions) are both the row and column dimensions. The summary (measure) values are the actual data fields you want in the crosstab.

Mike,
I don't understand what you are trying to say. I have 2 fields, namely MTHYR and SUM.
For each MTHYR, You have multiple SUM values across markets.
So, I pulled in both MTHYR and the SUM as the Summary Fields. I am not getting the data. I don't think I have got it.
My Data should look like (Please click on the Edit Button to see the Formatting)
Jan08 Feb08 Mar08
10 34 22
6 11 19
14 8 10
Thanks

Nurani,
So, you don't have a category value for rows? In your excel file that showed what you wanted the report to look like, you had row headers too.

Hi Mike,
I sent the excel file for Report # 8. This is Report # 2. To avoid confusion, Let me send the excel fake report # 2. You know what, You provided the solution for Report # 8. Let me also in the meantime try using that same logic in this one and see if it works.
I am sending the report to your email titled "Fake Report # 2".
Just want to give you more input as to what I have done, as you look into my "Fake Report".
I defined the months (I call them MTHYR in my report) as Groups[Dimensions] and the Totals/Counts as Summary [Measures].
Also, under the "CROSSTAB Cube Builder" What's "Link Groups" mean?
Thanks

Nurani,
In your dataCube, market, bill date, and your month should all be dimensions and the actual values in the yellow area, whatever field that is, should be the measure.
