Changing IDs mid-workflow

We are in the process of changing user ids from one domain to another.

When a workflow is started with domanA\userid there is a chance that the user will be moved to domainB\userid and the workflow is "lost". I could also see this being a problem if someone's access was changed.

Has anyone written something to search out active workflows, see if a specific user is included in a workflow and change the id?
