RSS within a report

I have been asked to figure out how to get a RSS feed into a "dashboard" style report. I have very minimal understanding what the RSS feed really is other than a service from hosting site broadcasts content and the client pickups up the XML(generally) file. Has someone been able to incorporate a RSS feed into a report? Would someone know how to achieve this?
