I found on the site

a very intersting way to choose for the "all parameter" 
however, 
i have a problem in my method beforeOpen

the errror is 
ReportDesign (id = 1): 
+ There are errors evaluating script "if( params["SN"].value != "(All SN)" ){ 
this.queryText = this.queryText + "AND "+ "ITMUSER"."KPH_MANAGED_SYSTEMS"."Serial_Number" =" + params["SN"].value 
}":{1}. 
 
The reason is that i must use identifier quoting... 
and the issue seems to be somewere here... 
can someone help me ?

Would this not be a bit simpler: 
 
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
if( params["SN"].value != "(All SN)" ){
this.queryText = this.queryText + "AND ITMUSER.KPH_MANAGED_SYSTEMS.Serial_Number =" + params["SN"].value
}
</pre>
 
The problem is with the quotes, you use a combination of single and double quotes, but the . are all out of the quotes so the script engine thinks what preceeds the . is an object, which hasn't been defined, if I'm not mistaken.

No it doesn't work
as i am not using identifier quoting i have the following error ...

+ Cannot get the result set metadata.
SQL statement does not return a ResultSet object.
SQL error #1: ORA-00904: "MMA_0686750": invalid identifier

what is the type of Serial_Number in the database? Is it a varchar? If so, you will need to modify your code like this:

if( params["SN"].value != "(All SN)" ){
this.queryText = this.queryText + " AND ITMUSER.KPH_MANAGED_SYSTEMS.Serial_Number = '" + params["SN"].value + "'"
}
</pre>
 
Does your query work when you select "All SN"?

Unfortunatly it still don't work... Same error ...

Serial_Number is well a varchar in the database
and yes the querry works fine when ALL SN is selected

Ok, what I would try next is to test the same full query in a SQL editor. It seems to me like you're trying to access a table from a different schema (ITMUSER).

What database are you using? Oracle? DB2? MySQL? MS SQL Server?

Glad to hear you got it solved, but why do you need the quotes around the column name? Surely, if you're accessing the same table (which it now looks like you do), then you don't need this at all and this should work equally well.

as strange as it sounds, it dosen't work without the quotes around the field name
