Checkbox to send email not activated
al91206
When I schedule a report on iServer express and I select 'Save As' --> Excel 97 - 2003 output (or any output) the 'Send me an email notification' option is not clickable. The SMTP information is updated in the configuration.
This is a linux installation.
Any help on this is appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi al91206:
Use management console to grant "Active Portal Intermediate" or "Active Portal Advanced" role to this user. While you are there also enable e-mail notification for this user (In the Jobs tab). Log out of Information console and log back in to try again.

<br />
Thanks - that worked just great. I have one last question as our notification emails still are not being received.<br />
<br />
<strong class='bbc'>Where can I see the account name that is registered in the Encyclopedia volume?</strong><br />
<br />
Since this is a linux install - we are using sendmail. We went through the sendmail walkthrough and the only item on the list we cannot figure out is:<br />
<br />
"Compare the user's account name that is registered with your e-mail program to the account name registered in the Encyclopedia volume. These two account names must match exactly."<br />
<br />
I really appreciate the help.<br />

Hi Al,
Account name is the same as username that you use for logging into iServer Express. To see or modify it, log into management console (as administrator) and click on the users tab. Once you are there select the user, the field labeled as "Name" is the account name for the selected user.

Ashwini,
Here is our situation:
1. iPortal was installed on our linux server under the root account
2. sendmail (linux email program) works fine - we tested it using the Actuate help document: Using Acutate iServer Express (pg 218)
3. We tested sendmail using the linux account "kevins"
4. I have a user in iServer named "kevins"
5. We tried sending a notification but it didn't work.
I attached our configuration screens so you can see what we have done. We are in our evaluation period and want to demo a working report distribution mechanism.
Please let me know if you need other screens as well - I am happy to provide any information necessary.
Thanks for your help on this.

Hi Al,
In your configuration console e-mail server settings can you specify the machine name (hostname) for "SMTP greeting"?
Ashwini
al91206
I added the server name to the SMTP Greeting entry (hostname.domain.com) then I tried just hostname - neither seemed to fix the problem.
Did you catch my question regarding the SMTP Server Name? We cannot edit that entry and we would like to try some things there. Does that entry make any difference?
Thanks!
Al

You can edit the SMTP Server name directly in the acserverconfig.xml. This file can be found in the etc directory of your iServer Express installation directory (i.e. C:Program FilesActuate10iServeretc)

Hi Al,
Could you check the junk mail folder too see if the mail somehow ended up there? If not then check sendmail server logs to see if it ever received connection request or request to send mail.
Ashwini

Ok - so it's not in my spam folder - but I don't find entries in the sendmail log as well.
I did look in the iServer logs though - and there are entries there - here is a portion and a more detailed version is attached.
The log name is: encycsrvr10.20516.la-dev.pds.com.2009FEB26_15_21_40_PST.1.log
Do any problems stick out? We're new to the product so the help is appreciated.

Hi Al,
It seems like iSX is talking to the email server. Is it possible for you to enable logging on your sendmail server? Also wondering if you have some antivirus software running on that server? Sometimes they prevent sending mass mails.
Ashwini
al91206
To all - thanks very much for the help in configuring the email settings.
A question though. In the "Hostname or IP Address" setting on iServer we had to give our relay server's IP address.
First off - is this correct? 2nd - if it is correct - documentation to that effect would have helped us get this right the first time.
Thanks,
Al
averma
Hi Al,
It should work with either the hostname or the ip address. I have successfully configured using a *hostname* in the past. Could you check if your relay has an entry in the DNS?
Ashwini
