I just downloaded GFv3 and ran the <br />
asadmin start-domain<br />
<br />
I had to add the commons-logging.jar to the birt.war (in WEB-INF/lib) then typed<br />
<br />
asadmin deploy birt.war<br />
<br />
<br />
<a class='bbc_url' href='
http://localhot:8080/birt'>http://localhot:8080/birt</a><br
/>
<br />
And it worked. Are you having a specific issue?<br />

my problem is i have v3 installed in my machine & i have my eclipse birt reports
but i donno know how to deploy those reports in glass fish
where do i run that command that u talked about
please help me out so that i can sucessfully deploy the reports in glassfishv3
Suvrow
where do i keep the war file before deploying it with glassfish
see i have deployed a war file, which was kept in desktop
But when i launch the deployed file it gives a error
JasonW
I made a directory here
glassfishv3-preludebirt and added the birt war file. I modified the war to include the commons logging jar.
then cd
glassfishv3-preludebin
and ran
asadmin deploy ../birt/birt.war
which exploded the war in the following directory
glassfishv3-preludeglassfishdomainsdomain1applicationsbirt
So you can either add reports to the war or copy them to the above directory or use a full path name with the __report url parameter.

let me describe my requirement to you jason
I have glassfish v3 installed in my machine, also i have eclipse birt designer installed with reports made
Now i need deploy these eclipse birt reports in glassfish
How do i do it
Do i need to convert the projects to a "war" file or do i need to make a connection from eclipse birt to glassfish
If i deploy then how should i deploy, do i need to make a database connection from glassfish
If yes then how should i make database connection from glassfish administrative console
I am using sql server as a database

You need to download the BIRT Runtime. Within the runtime there is a WebViewerExample J2EE app (there is also a birt.war file already there, but you will need to add the commons logging jar first). See this page for more details:<br />
<a class='bbc_url' href='
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/viewerUsage2.2.php'>Using
the BIRT Report Viewer</a><br />
<br />
put the commons logging jar in the WebViewerExample/WEB-INF/lib directory<br />
The WebViewer example directory can be put in a war like:<br />
"jar -cvf birt.war ." Run this command in the WebViewerExample directory form a console. Deploy the birt.war as described in previous post. Then you can put your reports anywhere you want. In the war, on the file system somewhere. Look at the url parameters for the WebViewer and you will see one called __report. You can specifiy a full path to the report or a relative to the context path.<br />

does that mean that the birt designer is not required
man am confused how do i put the reports in the war file & more over how do i add the commons logging jar file to the birt.war
JasonW
sorry for the confusion. The designer is not needed to run the reports. You can preview and build the reports in the designer, but to deploy them you need to use something like the WebViewer. Download the birt runtime and extract the zip. Change directory to list the files in the /WebViewerExample/WEB-INF/lib directory. Copy the commons-logging.jar from tomcat or some other location into the WebViewerExample/WEB-INF/lib directory. Startup a console and cd to the WebViewerExample directory and run the following command<br />
<br />
jar -cvf birt.war .<br />
<br />
This will create the birt.war that you can then deploy to gfv3.<br />
<br />
open a browser and enter <a class='bbc_url' href='
http://localhost:8080/birt'>http://localhost:8080/birt</a>
; and click on the test report.<br />

jason am still confused man
birt runtime ur talking but how do i import the reports from birt designer to birt runtime
Is there any specific way
also am not able to find a download for Birt runtime
I have downloaded birt designer
Suvrow
I've Glassfish v3 and Birt-runtime 2_3_0 installed in my machine.
I've birt.war file in /birt-runtime-2_3_0.
I've copied also commons-logging.jar into WebViewerExample/WEB-INF/lib directory.
but jar -cvf birt.war is not accepted in command prompt from the follwing path ...
"c:......WebViewerExample"
would u plz tell me the specific command and from the specific location to make the birt.war file that is ready 2 deploy in glassfish v3.
I've existing reports in eclipse - birt designer. but, how can I deploy those .rptdesign file or report project in glassfish v3 ?

If the jar command is not working then most likely you do not have the java bin directory in your path. I use jdk 5 and mine is located here:
c:jdk1.5.0_10bin

what do u mean by java directory in my path
i have installed jdk6
JasonW
If you open a console and type
jar
does it list any options?
