design a report with running totals in the footer

Hi, 
I am trying to design a BIRT report that's quite similar to bank statement or spreadsheet, in that there are numerical columns. however I need to display a "Page total" in the footer - something like a balance carried forward. A prototype without the required footer is here;

Can anyone suggest how I can implement a table footer on every page, which includes the running total of a given column. Apparently you cannot set the footer to be displayed via the GUI.

Hi Tom,

You could probably group your report on an interval of how many records you could fit in a single page. Then, use the group footer to display the totals.
