OD service on Teamsite 552

OD service keeps dying on us. Every time we re-start it dies again with in seconds. We need to know what’s causing it.

Our environment:

Teamsite 552 installed on Windows 2000/
OD service(Base) is also installed on the same Box.

check the od.log under od-home and the servername_odbase.log under od-home/logs. There is probably some mention there as to what is the problem.

Thank you, for your response, but we’ve looked at both files and they seem as though nothing has gone wrong.

This is what happens:

a) I manually start the Interwoven OpenDeploy service which is an ‘Automatic’ service,
from Administrative Tools\Services.
b) I wait about five seconds or so and then refresh the page; the service is no longer showing Started.

We looked at those suggested log files, and nothing has been entered.
The only entries in the log files are from the scheduled jobs.

This problem seems to disappear when we re-boot the Server…. Is there an alternative to this.

I assume you are running OpenDeploy 5.5.1 (you mentioned the TeamSite version but not the OpenDeploy version in your post)?
What SP level?

Do you have a lot of scheduled deployments? (there's a known bug with this that I think we fixed in SP2)

I am having the same issue on a Windows 2000 box with TeamSite 5.5.2 and OD 5.5.1, SP2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled OD three times and it still occurs.

All of this started back in December when I installed the ContentServices SDK for the IBM TeamPortal integration. We did not have many scheduled deployments until the portal_hourly deployment used for that demo but I did have a test deployment work and deploy files to our recevier. I have since uninstalled the ContentServices SDK and reinstalled OD 5.5.1 but the OD service continues to fail on startup.

So any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Recently we had to install a new version of the JRE to keep OD from crashing. It was only after a few deployments that it would crash, but it might be worth mentioning. We went from JRE 1.3.1_01, which comes with OD, to 1.3.1_06. We are also running OD 5.5.1 SP2. This did fix our problem.
