Problem inserting a Joint Data Set
Skandy
Hi,
i'm working with BIRT 2.3.1 and Joint Data Sets. The designer won't let me drag/insert a Joint Data Set in my report. The preview for the joint data set works great but i can not drag it in the report neither use it to create another Joint Data Set.
Any idea? Thank you.

I tried to create a joint data set (still in 3.2.1) from two data sets that don't contain parameters. I was able to insert the joint data set in my report.
It seems like the designer won't let me insert a joint data set of data sets that contains parameters. Is this a limitation?
Thank you.

Hi Skandy,
Can you recreate this issue with the sample database and attach the design so I can run it? Thanks.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.

I'va attached the report using the sample DB. I reproduced the problem. Can neither insert the data set JointDataSet to the report (try to drag it in the report design) nor use it to create another joint data set (can't see any output columns in the joint data set wizard).

Maybe the inherited parameters are causing this? I use cascading parameters for one of the data sets used in the joint.
BIRT 2.3.1, i'll try it on 2.3.2.

Thanks for helping.

Alright,
I've just tested with 2.3.2 and it works. I can drag the joint data set to insert it in the report. I can even use the joint data set for creating another joint data set. I can see all the output columns.
Thank you.

Are you able to insert your joint data set (with params) into a Bar Chart? If so, did you encounter any problems? I don't get any data to appear in the Chart Preview columns.
Thanks...
Skandy
Hi cantyman,
the answer is YES. I've tested a bar chart with data from a joint data set and was able to do it with version 2.3.2.
