Changing look and feel of meter chart

Can we modify the look and feel of the meter chart using scripting.I mean to say that the meter chart comes in two flavours standard and superimposed.They are semi circular in shape.I would like the meter chart to be in circular shape with the pointer value be shown in the middle of the circle.Is this possible?please guide me
