attach birt source in Eclipse

I am trying to use the viewer tag in one of my jsp pages in the same context I deployed the birt viewer. While trying to debug a problem, I want to view the source of the birt viewer, but the downloaded source code is "in plugin format". What does this mean and how do I attach the source to the jar files I included in my eclipse project?
