Embedding an HTTPS link to an image on the server generating the report

Hi ,
I am using BIRT to generating PDF reports on a HTTPS server hosting Tomcat. In the report I am displaying a picture by specifying the URI as an HTTPS link to an image on the same server.

The image however fails to show up on the report.

But this is not an issue if the HTTPS link points to an image on a different site
Also if on a server hosted on HTTP this is not an issue. The image displays as expected
Any ideas ?

Could this be a problem with the HTTPS environment?
