japanese characters not shown in Chart

Hi,

I am Birt newbie, I have a report that shows a chart graph and some text data.
The text data displays correctly japanese characters, but the X and Y axis titles in chart are displayed as squares symbols. I am using a properties file for internationalization which is working fine in the text portion of the report, just the Chart text is not converted.

Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem but with korean characters.
