Creating .rpt files with notepad?

Is it possible to create a simple .rpt files with notepad? I dont need any database... Just need to insert some words to attach to report template...

A report design file is XML, so you could edit it via a text editor. You would need to be careful adding elements to or deleting elements from the XML. It would be easy to corrupt the XML.

Why would you not use the BIRT designer?

Okay now the thing is I've downloaded RTC standard edition... And I want to create a report. So I downloaded BIRT-All in one but I couldnt open the program.. I dont know the exact way to use it. Can you please advise me?

Unless you are already familiar with the Eclipse environment, I'd install the RCP version. After installing, there is an excellent Tutorial on the Help Menu that will get you familiar with the basic report concepts. It is well worth the couple of hours spent to go through it.
