Header Spanning in a Cross tab
boerema
I have data containing two column headers. One will be different for each sample, the other will pertain to multiple samples like this:
...........|...................feet.................|.........meters........|
...........|..Test A..|..Test B..|..Test C..|..Test D..|..Test E..|
Type 1 |.....15....|.....18.....|.....12.....|......7.....|.....9.....|
Type 2 |.....12....|.....14.....|.....10.....|......8.....|.....7.....|
I am haven't been able to get the top column header to span automatically. Currently, I have it set up so the Unit is the primary dimension and the Test Type is the secondary dimension, but I can't find a setting or configuration that will automatically have the column header span.
Is this possible in BIRT? How would I go about doing it?
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
The crosstab should do this automatically. You'll need to make "units" the main dimension and "test" a sub dimension under that. Then, "type" needs to be another separate dimension. Then, whatever value is in the crosstab, needs to be the measure.
You then drag the units value into the column dimension area of the crosstab, click on the drop down next to it and click hide/show group levels to show the "test" values. Then, drag "type" to the row dimension value and the measure value into the measure area. This should do it.
