xls and 0 rows of data

I have two questions....
1. When 0 rows are returned from the query, the XLSRenderer returns a 0 byte file so excel can't open it...shouldn't it return the headers for the file at least so it can be opened? Anyone else have a problem with 0 row data
2. After the engine is run and there is 0 rows of data, is there any way to ask the engine if there was no data so that i could redirect the user to a web page saying no data for this report? This way, they are not downloading a 0 byte file with nothing in it or going to a report with no data.
thanks,
Dean

weird, it is half working now....I get a file with data now(and I didn't change anything...restarted tomcat though).....BUT 2007 excel can't open the file while 2003 excel CAN open the file. does BIRT not support office 2007?
thanks,

Dean,
I am able to open xls files created in BIRT 2.3.2 with Excel 2007. What version of BIRT are you using? I don't know that that matters, but I can try.
