table errors

I have a complex report design. In the Eclipse editor one of the tables shows a red cross in the outline view. When I preview the report I get a message box "the report contains errors..." I continue to the preview and the report is displayed (although If I use the view report options an exception occurs).
I've seen this scenario many times and usually get around it by chopping bits out until it works, or reverting to a previous copy and reapplying changes.
My question is, where do I find more information about the error that the designer detects in the design so I can take a more considered approach to correcting it?

Hi garf,
Take a look at the "Problems" tab next to the property editor tab?

Hi thanks for the response. The problems view is empty. <br />
I found the answer though - the error is shown in a tooltip when the mouse is over the item in error. It was staring me in the face all along!
