Usage of Submit Comment field ?

Whats the usage of the submit comment field in the author_submit workflow ? Where can i see the comments entered in this field ?

Can i take the comments from the submit comment field and put them as transition comments so that the owner of the first task of my new workflow job can view these as the first comments of the user who initiated the workflow ?
Im looking for some extra information that could be provided by the workflow initiator to the first task owner.

The submit comment is used, well, for the comment associated with the file(s) when they are submitted - which should be viewable by looking at the comments section associated with the file in the workflow - and also when viewing the history of the file versions in the staging area.

If you want to access them as part of an externaltask or cgitask script - look at TeamSite::WFtask's GetFileAndComments() method.
