Removing empty pages
brickuz
Are there any way to stop empty pages from being rendered?
The problem I've got is that a large textblock, in some cases, creates an empty page before it's shown no matter what Page Break is set to, including elements (including the table) before and after the textblock.
An easy way around would be to stop the empty page to be rendered with a script or setting but I don't know if this is possible?
(a bonus would ofcouse be if it did not screw up the pagecounter on my masterpage but it's more important to get the problem solved).

Hi brickuz,
Is there any way you can reporduce this issue with the sample database so that I can see it myself? Also, what version of BIRT are you using?

Hi,
I'm using Birt 2.2.1 (restricted due to my Clear Quest version).
It's very kind of you but I could not get a good setup with the sample database and the existing data is classified. If I get time I can come back with a modified xml DB.
For now I would just like to know if there is an easy way to stop Birt from rendering empty layout pages. That would be a "good enough" way around.

brickuz,
I'm not sure that I have seen this exact issue before. In earlier versions of BIRT like you're using, there were issues with the PDF output following the same page breaks as the web viewer even though the layouts didn't match, which sometimes resulted in blank or only partially filled pages. This has been changed in newer versions, but I'm not sure that this is the same issue without actually seeing it. If you could come up with modified XML data, like you said, for me to run the report, that would be great. I don't have 2.2.1, but I do have 2.2.2.
