Dynamically stop a string from expanding so far...

Hi All!

I have a report that I am creating. One of the fields in it is known as a MEMO field. However, due to company documents, which I have to recreate. The MEMO field cannot fill up the entire space of a row. Is there a way to either cut off the MEMO field after so many characters or is there a way to program a row to go only 1 or 1.5 " and stop there?

I am on BIRT 2.1.2 currently. We have plans to go to 2.3.2 later but I do not have the luxury to wait on it...

Can anyone help?

Hi Krelek1000,

You should be able to use substrings to limit the text to however many characters you'd like.
