flash chart performance
nmarchais
I am developping an application which uses a lot chart reporting. For the moment i am using the Birt open source products for that purpose.
Many of my Charts have to display hundred or thousand of point. The problem i am facing is slow perfomance. More there are points in my charts slower are the performances.
The problem does'nt come from my query or my data processing. The more complex query + personnal data processing is less than 2 seconds long. And chart generation can take more than a minute with thousand of point.
Can i expect an optimization with the Birt open source charts?
here are my jvm options : -Xms128m -Xmx1024m --XX:MaxPermSize=192m
I'd like to know if to switch to Flash Actuate Charts will be faster to generate charts with many points?
What's the solution the have fast charts rendering?

Hi nmarchais,
Actuate BIRT is based off of the open source version of BIRT, so, I'm not sure that there will be any difference in performance between the normal charts in Actuate BIRT and the charts in the open source BIRT. I'll have to look into any differences in performance between normal and flash charts and let you know what I find.
