Use a report parameter to run a dataset or not?

Hi all,

I need to generate 2 different kinds of charts based on whether a report parameter comes in with 1 value or multiple values.

If a single value comes in, I want to use it to generate a dataset and bind that to a chart.

If multiple values come in, I want to use them to generate a different dataset and bind that to a different chart.

I'm using the dataset beforeOpen function to test the parameter, but ideally I don't want to generate the dataset nor the chart if the parameter doesn't match the criteria.

Is this possible?
