Data Engine folders
hossman51
I have a question that is probably easy to answer but I've been unable to figure out. I'm using the birt report viewer with tomcat and when I run one of my reports via the report viewer I get a lot of folders created in the root of Tomcat named "DataEngine_9001391". Each folder starts with "DataEngine_" and ends with a different number.
Does anyone know what they folders are used for and how I redirect these folders to be created somewhere else?
Thanks,
Dustin

Hi Dustin, what version of BIRT viewer are you using? <br />
<br />
There is a great Viewer reference at <a class='bbc_url' href='

Viewer 2.3 User Reference - Other Resources - BIRT Exchange</a> if you are using Eclipse BIRT Viewer, and then <a class='bbc_url' href='

- BIRT Wiki - BIRT Exchange</a> if you are using the Viewer from Actuate Java Components.

Thanks for the reply Virgil.
I'm using version 2.3 and I've read the birt viewer user guide and have not seen any references to what the DataEngine folders are nor how to configure their locations.
Any other ideas on what they are and where they are coming from?
Thanks,
Dustin

I personally not getting these files in my Tomcat with 2.3.0. Have you modified any of the logging levels or locations?

I've not modified any of the logging levels or locations but I have just noticed that the folders get created when I run a report from _run but when the report is completely loaded BIRT cleans up these folders and deletes them because if I run a large report I can see the folder created and then deleted.
But when I run a report that has a graph on it the folders get created but not cleaned up. What's weird is that these folders/files look to be like temp or cache files but all the other temporary images and/or document files that BIRT creates gets created in the directories based on what's in the web.xml.
