Report Empty in Maximo Preview, Data exists in export
dchillman
I have an asset report with 20 columns that runs fine in the birt design environment. However, after importing into maximo, when the report runs, the Birt Report Viewer is empty, other than the header and footer. If I click the "Export Data" icon and export to a csv file, the data I was expecting in the report is present, except the first row is missing. Any ideas as to why
1. the data can't be previewed in the viewer (not extremely critical as the use will be exporting the data for this particular report)
2. Why the first record in the dataset is missing?
thanks

Just a guess but check your Table Bindings and make sure oyu don't have any extra bindings in there.

I think I have the same problem, have you solved it?
If so, how did you?
Thank you.

I had started with another report and just tried to modify it, but there must have been something in the xml that wasn't right. When I recreated the report from scratch, it worked fine. Note that I am a rookie with Birt, but it seems that sometimes changes (deletions) in datasets made through the user interface don't always find their way to the xml.

This issue arises because the reports in Maximo 7.1.1.4 and BIRT V2.1.2 cannot be saved as another report. If you click on File --> Save As... and save the report as a new report or newly named report, then it always, ALWAYs, will show up blank or with the first row missing in the export to CSV.
In order to correct this, the work around is this, never open a report and save it as something else. If you need to modify a Existing report then make sure it is closed in BIRT (report to modify and rename) and use windows explorer to create a copy and rename the file (but not extension)
I use this trick because ALOT of folks at my work look at a report and state, oh that is good enough, only to return to say they need something else added to that report to make it Unique to them.
