Integrating iServer Express in a Portal
frag_me
Is it possible to integrate parts of iServer Express into a Portal? Meaning i dont want to see the whole administration within the Portal, but for instance the complete list of reports of the user, which is logged into the portal and he can execute and schedule them and so on.
If possible, how big would be the effort to do so.
Greetings
Michael

Hi Michael,<br />
You could use iServer(Express) web services layer to write your own portlet to display list of reports available for the logged in user. IDAPI is the web services interface to the server. The following wiki post gives a good overview of IDAPI:<br />

Information Delivery API - BIRT Wiki - BIRT Exchange</a><br />

Chapter 2 of iServer integration technology guide has further information on IDAPI:<br />

In addition to using Web Services, you can also embed a call to the getportletfolderitems action in your page. You can even customize the JSP page that the action forwards to. It is /iportal/portlets/filefolderlist/filefolderlistportlet.jsp.<br />
<br />
<pre class='_prettyXprint _lang-auto _linenums:0'>
http://localhost:8900/iportal/getportletfolderitems.do?folder=/Public
</pre>
<br />
This link will show you a live example (must be logged in to BIRT Exchange):<br />
<a class='bbc_url' href='
http://demo.birt-exchange.org/iportal/getportletfolderitems.do?folder=/BIRT and Business Reports Examples'>Business
Intelligence Software - Reporting Tools - BIRT Exchange</a><br />
<br />
Using this approach, you would likely want to think about integrating single-signon between your application and the iServer UI (Information Console). The following DevShare entry gives tips on integrating single signon.<br />

single sign-on in iServer (Express) - Designs & Code - BIRT Exchange</a><br />

thanks for quick your responses.
using forward and sso seems to be more likely to me, but the api is a good hint too, because my next question would have been, if automatic job schedule creation is possible. now i can save this one
