Auto-scaling a DateTime Axis
cmcdaniel
My X-axis is of type DateTime and I have selected Auto as the scale. What I don't like is that there is (sometimes) whitespace at the start of the range and at the end, where there are no data values. Basically it scales out the X-axis to be larger than the data range. So, I deselect "Auto Expand" on the scale dialog and that helps at the start of the range, but the tail end of the graph is still too long for the data.
This looks really strange as the end of the range stretches into the future, which I couldn't possibly have data for since I am working with historic data. I have the same behavior in both Line and Scatter charts. Is there a way I can auto-scale the X-axis to only be as big as it needs to be to contain all the data points (without a huge buffer on either end)?

Hi cmcdaniel:
You could have more granular control over axis scale if you set your chart axis to a non-category axis.

It is already set to non-category. Still the end of the range extends into the future where there is no data.

I am attaching a sample report in which I have specified Min and Max values for axis scale. Hopefully that should help resolve your issue, if not can you help me understand with an example.<br />
