All the services of the iServer are exposed via web services. The name for the web service layer in iServer is the Information Delivery API (IDAPI).

Using the IDAPI, you could read job details in one iServer and then create them in another iServer.

The following gives a good overview of the IDAPI.
Your jobs will be safe when upgrading the server. As a safety precaution, I always make a backup copy of the encyc folder which can be found under the root of your iServer installation.

I tried IDAPI today, and it is very useful to move jobs. The only questions is how to update jobs?

I do the job moving as the following steps:
1, read jobs from iServer A
2, get reportdesign by JobProperties.getInputFileName()
3, create ServerFile of this reportdesign in iServer B
4, create JobBuilder from ServerFile.runReport();
5, set property values, including schedule, output, parameters, etc.
6, execute JobBuilder.submit()

Then, it will create a new Job in iServer B.
What i want to know is how to update a job. For example, i create a job in iServer B, then i get it from IDAPI, modify some properties, then i want to execute some method like job.update() to update this job. Anyone can help?

Thanks,
You should just get the job as you do in step 1, and them modify the properties and submit it again. Have you tried this?

If someone could post a code template for this that would be GREAT!
