Totalling crosstabs totals
stuart
Hi,
Please see attachment. What I would like to do is create a grand total from the totals of several crosstab report items. Here I would like to individually total the daily totals from each cross tab and produce Grand Totals per day table (see table highlighted with purple). Is this possible in BIRT? (even programmatically - if it can be done programmatically does anyone have any example code accessing crosstab report items?)
Thanks,
Stuart.

Hi Stuart,
You could store the "total" row values in Persistent Global Variables that are named based on the column dimension name and then use these variables to compute and display the total of both crosstab totals.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the direction. Do you have any code examples accessing the totals dimension of a cross tab and also any examples of code manipulating global variables? BTW Where would this code go? (Java or Javascript)?
Thanks heaps,
Stuart.

Stuart,
This report will show you how you can access the value of the total element and assign it to a persistent global variable. Then how to grab those values to add the totals together. This obviously isn't exactly what you want the report to look like, it's just showing the method. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi kevin23_hy,
Can you explain this a little more in detail?
