BIRT Causing Maximo to Crash?
SpaceMan
I write BIRT reports but I don't work on the technical part of Maximo and BIRT. I'm asking this question to see if anyone has experienced anything similiar.
Currently we are running Maximo 7.114. We have two completely custom reports and have modified maybe 5 or 6 reports (usually only adding fields).
Lately we have noticed that Maximo is running slow and one time our Reports would generate but no data would return. It was almost like the link to the database got corrupt.
We had to bring down Maximo and restart in order for them to work again. It seems like every couple of weeks this starts happening.
I know it will be extremely difficult to trouble shoot this over a forum, but that's not what i'm asking. I just want to know if anyone has experienced similiar problems and if there are any solutions.
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
The BIRT doesn't report will never be the cause to crash your Maximo application... maybe the slowdown of your system cause by somethin else. If your report query is huge and required some time to pull out the data from the database maybe that is one reason of slowdown of the system. Normally reports like this should be schedule to run during offpick time let say night time or period that very minimal user that uses the system. Also try to look at your trace log maybe you will find some hint from there if what is really going on to your maximo server.
I hope it will help you..
