Remove CVS tags from BIRT reports

We use tags within CVS. We did not start out with a standard, but now a standard format for the tags have been established. There have also been some typos when entering the tag names. Is there a way to remove or alter the tags on an object within BIRT?

tags you apply with your CVS repository are not generally changed by BIRT. If for some reason you lost the ability to modify CVS tags, try switching to your CVS repository exploring Eclipse perspective.

We can modify the tags from CVS directly, but since we apply the tags via BIRT I was hoping for a way to modify the tags from BIRT. It doesn't look like that is possible.
