Usage of TAB spaces in BIRT

Hello

Can anyone please help me in using TABs in BIRT report?
Currently whenever I am using TABs instead of single spaces, they are not being rendered, i.e. if i type abc<TABspace>def in output i am getting abcdef.
Using space doesnt help as diff letters have diff width and alignment gets messed up.

Can you give more details on what you are trying to accomplish with allignement and where you are using TABs at?

I am trying to attain a report like:

I) Something
W) Something2

but as the width of letters are all different, the left hand side of Something and Something2 are not properly aligned. It is possible only if I use a TAB instead of a space. But somehow TAB is not working.Can you please help?
