dataDeploy and mySQL

Does anyone know if DataDeploy works with mySQL?
Thanks.

mySQL is not supported by DataDeploy. There is an open feature request (#33192) for this.
I would be interested in hearing from users who would like to have mySQL supported in the future.

we would definitely like to see MySQL supported.
i am currently trying to decide whether to use DD to deploy metadata to XML or write a script to read extended attributes and insert them directly into a MySQL database.
if anyone has any opinions or experience with this, please let me know.
mick :-)
(currently using TeamSite 5.0.2 for Solaris)

Hi,
we also would definitely need MySQL support for DataDeploy by next year because we plan to migrate from Oracle to MySQL.
We are currently using DD 5.5.2.
Thanks

Hi,
My company is currently looking to deploy metadata to mySQL to enable personalisation, etc within Sun Portal. Is the integration with datadeploy complete?
TS 6.0 on solaris, DD 5.6 SP1,
Regards,
Ben

Yes, mySQL is now supported.
Make sure you apply DD patch 1406 (Windows) or 1407 (Solaris) on top of DD56SP1. Also, please see the README that comes with the patch for setup instructions.

We have installed MySQL 4.0.16 on Solaris 8, and also installed Patch 1407 for DataDeploy SP1.
The readme notes for the patch give instructions for using MySQL with DD. According to this readme, DD has been tested with MySQL 4.0.13, but the instructions require the use of the command 'show table types'.
This command does not exist:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 18 to server version: 4.0.16-max-log
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.
mysql> show table types;
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'types' at line 1
mysql>
The MySQL documentation states:
4.6.8.10 SHOW TABLE TYPES
SHOW TABLE TYPES
This command is implemented in MySQL 4.1.0.
MySQL 4.1.x versions are Alpha versions, not production.
So it appears that the patch for DD was tested against an alpha edition of MySQL and not the production edition?

DD was tested against both. I'm wondering if there's an error in the README instructions.
Please open a case with Tech Support. (Sorry, I'm not personally familiar with MySQL.)
Thanks.

Can you check your MySQL logs and make sure you have started the database with Transaction Safe Tables.

I am trying to deploy metadata (EA's) to a MYSQL database using Wide Table-Based Synchronisation method. I was able to do this on the machine where TeamSite 6.0 is installed. However, when I configure datadeploy target host to be some other machine which does not have TeamSite 6.0 installed, it's failing to find the mysql database driver. Following is what I get on the log file.
>>> Loading drivers <<<
url : acker:3306/test
login : damitha
login timeout=3
Connecting to the database...
Try connecting using jdbc
dbc:acker:3306/test...
SQL failure
ERROR:ERROR: Could not connect to [jdbc
dbc:acker:3306/test]
I have copied the mysql driver to datadeploy/lib directory and updated iwdd.ipl file.
Any ideas?
