Showing different tables based on report parameter
joo
Is is possible to show different report results based on a parameter that a user chose ? The report shown for each case would come from a different data set and would not result in the same table.
For example in the 'enter parameters' screen the user can choose
1. Report1
2. Report2
If user chooses Report1, a table showing data from companyDataSet should be displayed. The table has 3 columns.
If user chooses Report2. a table showing data from departmentDataSet should be displayed. This table has 5 columns and runs a query that is different from companyDataSet
Is this possible ?

Hi,
It can be done using "Visibility" properties.
To do this you have to do the following.
1> Create your full report with both table1 and table2.
2> Add dataset1 and dataset2 to design table data.
3> Place the table according to your requirement.
4> Create new "Parameter" to get user choice. Here you can also add the exact values such like "Report1" or "Report2"
5> Hide/unhide table1 and table2 as per user choice with the help of "Visibility" properties. You have to use "Report1" or "Report2" values to write
expression here.
Hope this will help you.

Another way, if your tables are large and just hiding affects your performance, you could also drop one of the tables completely depending upon a parameter choice. See this devShare post:
Hi,

you have to take 2 layouts in the same report (report1 & report2). Depending upon the parameters you have to hide /show the corresponding layouts. Hope this might help you.
I do?

Ronak,
If I'm understanding, it should be the same. You'd have a table in your design and you'd drop it depending on the report parameter. Or am I misunderstanding. Let me know.
