Exporting to Excel 2007

I previously created .rptdesign files using Eclipse Europa (BIRT 3.2.15), which were then integrated into a WebApplication. This is working fine except that we now need to export reports that are large to Excel format, and need Excel 2007 format to be able to save all the rows from the report. Is it possible just to update one/two files to provide this function, or do I need to update everything to the latest level? Thanks for any suggestions.
