Webdesk performance issues

We are using teamsite 5.5.2SP2, and are experiencing some performance issues in WebDesk. This may be due to the large amount of stuff we have in the backing store (about 40 branches, maybe 25-30 workareas per branch). When selecting browse -> workareas, it takes about 30 seconds for all of the stuff in there to load. Also general file navigation seems a bit unresponsive. Our server is a solaris box and the client machines are p4 1.8GHz with more than ample ram etc. Has anyone else experienced slowness in webdesk, and are there any known performance patches or workarounds? Thanks!

If you are on 5.5.2, you should definately move to the most current Service Pack, SP3. We did some performance tuning in SP2, and in SP3.

Ive also seen problems with TeamSite and some proxy applications (squid i think it was)...
See if the client browser is going through a proxy. If it is, try a direct connection and see if it makes a difference.
