Access rights?

I'm having some problems with the access rights on files when creating a new file. When I create a new file with 'New file' in the webdesk, the file get the rights 664 as it should be, but when I generate a file it gets 644...

I'm running TS5.5.2 on AIX5.1
In iw.cfg it says:
# Set default UNIX permissions (use octal values). branch_default_perm=775
workarea_default_perm=775
file_default_perm=664
directory_default_perm=775

Any suggestions what to do?

Just a guess - the proverbial shot in the dark ...

Have you checked the umask on the user 'iwui' - perhaps it is somehow combining with the 664 to turn it into 644 ?

Could be the umask, it's 022 for the user 'iwui' right now. Should mayby be changes to 02?
Do you know if I have to restart the sever after changing the umask to get user 'iwui' to use it?

Hi

Yes, TS 5.5.2 does not take the default file permission from iw.cfg when u generate a file, But picks the umask. So, u will have to change the umask and restart.

The way to make tihs work is to change the user 'iwui' umask to 0113 and run a iwreset -a and the it works fine.

We’re having the same problem, but the replies to this post don’t seem to help. Templating generated pages end up with permissions of 644. However, we want permissions of 664. Based on several Unix sources, the umask value would be “002”. The problem is that we don’t know how to apply this to the “iwui” user. I would love to see an example of how to set the umask for “iwui” to “002”.

Here’s what we’ve tried (without luck)
- Created /opt/iw-home/.profile and entered “umask 002” and rebooted the server.
- Modified /etc/profile and changed “umask 022” to “umask 002” and rebooted the server.

Our environment:
TeamSite 5.5.2
Templating 5.5.2
Solaris 8

iw.cfg UNIX permissions:
branch_default_perm=775
workarea_default_perm=775
file_default_perm=664
directory_default_perm=775

You seem to be doing things correct, but a couple things to check:

grep iwui /etc/passwd (make certain that home is /opt/iw-home for iwui)

su to root then su - iwui, cd /tmp , touch foo, what are the permissions ?

Also, this behavior is on the file after it is created and before it is submitted ? After submittion, then it is governed by submit.cfg

Finally you can use the group stick-bit on the workarea which will set any new files to the appropriate persmissions.
