Export of Data to Excel?
jpoma
Hi all,
Is it possible to export data (not the report itself) straight to Excel, rather than going through the intermediary step of CSV?
Going to CSV causes problems:
1. We have a string that has leading zeros, and Excel naturally chops those off in CSV format.
2. Excel also converts strings that appear to be dates, even if they are not.
My ultimate goal is to export to excel, maintaining the column data types.
Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions on the matter?
Justin

Hi Justin,<br />
<br />
So, you are using the standard XLS output for BIRT and this is happening?<br />
<br />
Have you tried the Tribix XLS emitter?<br />

The issue of Excel removing leading zeros of my fields that are strings is happening to me too, when I export to XLS via tribix emitter 2.3.
I´m using BIRT 2.3.2.
I need those "zeros"! :-)
Any ideas?

Suri

I am not using the XLS output for birt, but using the data export function that only has the CSV export option. I am looking for exporting data directly to excel.

Justin,
I see now. I don't think there's gonna be a way to do this out of the box.
