iw_ostream turn on and off

in combination with
my $preview = iwpt_get_flag_param('-oprefix');

I want to be able to toggle output to stdout or output to a file..how can this be done.

{

<iw_ostream mode='docroot' file='$out_file'>

}

....something like that
...but that won't work becasue iw_ostream is an IW Tag and gets interperted anyway....
got any ideas on what I could do?

I haven't tried any of this - it's just off the top of my head ...

Conditionally set the buffer name for iwostream to be either "default" [the default - which I believe is STDOUT] or some other buffer name, and then at the end, conditionally dump the contents of the buffer to a file

Thanks Ghoti... I had to do some tweaking but I got what you ment.
Iwas looking at it the worng way at first but after takling your suggestion this what i got. In case others need it
