inline command for system date

Does anyone have a good idea as to get the server date to write to a DCT via inline command. I am using an inline command, but can it take the system date and make it read-only so the user cannot edit this?

Any thoughts would help a lot...

Why not use FormAPI? Performance would be better. Plus I think there are problems with <readonly> in a DCT. If this is your first FormAPI make sure to change iw.cfg.

Sorry, that will get the client date. Not sure how you would get the server with FormAPI.

untested.. but I cannot see any reasons why you cannot return a read-only component into a DCT using inline. Just follow the correct syntax.

I don't know if it works with read only; we've got an editable text field in the DCT. In the DCT we're calling this script:
<inline command = 'perl /app/teamsite/iw-home/local/bin/format_date.ipl'/>

And the code in this script goes as follows:

($sec,$min,$hour,$day,$month,$year,$wday,$yday,$isdst) =localtime(time);

I don't know if you just wanted an answer about the read only, but I posted this anyway.

If you inline script is
FULL_PATH_TO_IW_HOME/local/bin/format_date.ipl,
use:
<inline command = 'FULL_PATH_TO_IW_HOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl FULL_PATH_TO_IW_HOME/local/bin/format_date.ipl'/>

where, "FULL_PATH_TO_IW_HOME" is the path to your iw-home. e.g.: "c:/iw-home", or "/apps/teamsite/iw-home"

You may be able to use the IWDatacapture.callServer function of Form API ( to hit the url of your server and access a CGI or Perl application that is contained within an http accessible directory that simply returns the date. You can then use the readonly attribute setting of FormAPI to change the fields properties.
