SQL SERVER JDBC - Local vs Server
Bernie_Mac
I have SQL Server 2005 with a helpdesk db on a Dell Server. I have installed BIRT Report Designer on my laptop.
I would like to design the reports from my laptop and connect to the database when I run the reports. I can not get pass connection to the datasource. I have tried using the sqldjdbc and sqljdbc4.jar files along with the jtds-1.2.4.jar and no luck.
I'm currently trying to use the sqljdbc4.jar file and I get the error message: "There is an error in get connection, Login fialed for user 'username'...
I have an ODBC connection to the SQL Server DB and can access the data through MS Access 2007 forms. I would like to move away from MS Access and utilize BIRT for reporting needs.
Do I need to install BIRT on the server and the client?
Please help...

I'm able to login to the server. It appears that the username and password on the server were not recognized. I finally got one login and password to work but I have not reason why the others fail to login.
This login seems to only give me access to the other logins with schemas. I am wondering what I did wrong because I can not see my tables in the database through birt.
Everything is still good by using the ODBC though

Try jtds jdbc driver (<a class='bbc_url' href='
http://jtds.sourceforge.net/)'>http://jtds.sourceforge.net/)</a>
. Hope it helps resolve your issue.

Maybe you had some confusions between login and users : <a class='bbc_url' href='
