BIRT Template registry...Location?
millvall
Hi,
I create a new template, then use: "Register New Template with New Report Wizard" and the template is immediately available. (I'm using AC BIRT PRO 10sp1)
The template folder, in Window --> Preferences --> Pick Report Design --> Template appears irrelevant. BIRT must be keeping a separate list someplace, independent of the Template folder identified. (When I alter the Template folder path, the result is unchanged. I see the out-of-box list plus my newly registered template. Suggesting the path name is not used.)
QUESTION: Where is this template list/registry? (Not the .rpttemplate file, I know where that is.)
I searched for modified files by date, but could not find a file which held template names, updated recently. Also Googled around, but no luck. Mostly high level stuff.
Many Thanks
Milt.
BACKGROUND
In AC BIRT PRO 10sp1,
The template folder, in Window --> Preferences --> Pick Report Design --> Template
Default folder says:
C:/Program Files/Actuate10/BRDPro/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui_2.3.2.v20081204-1200
HOWEVER, the template files are actually located in...
C:Program FilesActuate10BRDProeclipsepluginsorg.eclipse.birt.resources_2.3.2.v20081204-1200templates
This might be a bug. ***BUT*** templates are successfully displayed when I do: New Report --> Next --> Pick template.
So it seems the Template path setting is ignored and the real path is hard coded someplace, or is in a list file stored somewhere.
Thanks Again.

Hi Milt,
So, if you change the "custom templates" folder, you still see the custom template that you created, even though the template is not saved in that location? Is this what you're seeing?
P.S. - BIRT 2.5.1 says the path that you say they're actually saved in, not the designer.ui folder like in A10. So, it may have been a bug in 2.3.2, which is the version of BIRT used in A10.
