rptlibrary file size and server performance
cmrdjr
I have a library that is rapidly growing in size. The current size is 5,777,627 bytes and growing. I can split this up into multiple libraries but would like to know if there are benifits or performance hits for having a rptdesign use multiple libraries or a single library that has a very large file size.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

What do you have in the rptlibrary that is making it so big?

I had similiar problem with library.
I was forced to split my huge library (many datasets, tables, charts). It was because of designing library not reporting. It consumed much time for me - 2 minutes "save", "refresh" operation.
I guess Designer uses DOM for working with xml files.

I have 39 queries, 36 parameters, 8 grids, 1 label, and 37 tables, a theme, and javascript behind each query as well as some of the grids. Due to the nature of the area for which this library is used the libray is not complete yet.
These items are re-used in multiple report designs. I started to split some of these items into their own library due to performance issues on my development machine when saving and adding additional elements. but then a report killed our production server. I thought that the spliting of the library might have been the culprit, but found that some scripting in the report design had been removed inadvertantly.
Due to the size of this file, the performance issues I have when developing, and limitations on our production server (mainly RAM) I was trying to find out if there were performance issues with having multiple libraries used in a report design or if the file size of the library reached a certain size.
Thanks

Is there any chance you could log a bug for this and attach the lib so the dev team could do some testing?

I have reported a bug for this issue. The number is 'Bug 297629'
