tt_data not starting

olivierb

Hi

I'm trying to use the tt_data event in order to start a workflow, but nothing it is happening. I have been reading everything on the subject in this forum but I stil don't have the solution to my problem. So here is what I have in my available_templates.cfg :

<template_file name="Metadonnees" path="/IW/iw-home/local/config/dev/wft/template/setMetadata.wft">
<command_list>
<command value="tt_data" />
<command value="submit"/>
<command value="all" include="no" />
</command_list>

<branch_list>
<branch value="/Developpement/main/(toto)" include ="yes" />
<branch value="all" include ="no" />
</branch_list>

<role_list>
<role value="editor" include="yes" allusers="yes"/>
<role value="all" include="yes" allusers="yes" />
</role_list>
</template_file>

It is working on the submit event but not on the tt_data event ?

Any idea of what it can be ?

Thanks in advance

Olivier

Your XML is not valid. Try swapping the branch_list and the role_list elements.

Still not working, the workflow doesn't start. We are using Teamsite 5.5.2 with SP2 and I heard that the bug with the tt_data was supposed to be fixed with the last servicepack. So I don't know what is wrong with it. Any idea ? Anyway to debug ?

Thanks

Debugging available_templates.cfg

Make a copy of available_templates.ipl - to restore after you're done
Edit available_templates.ipl
Near the top, you'll see a line that says: my $DEBUG_MODE = 0; - change the 0 to 1
Bring up your DCR, make a subtle change to it, Save & Close
Look in iw-home/tmp/cci/ - you should see a file like templates.nnnn
Look in that file and see if that clarifies what's happening. You may need to look at both that file and available_templates.ipl at the same time to understand what's getting printed out.
If that doesn't clarify it, edit available_templates.ipl some more and put your own debug(...); statements in and repeat the process of trying to trigger the workflow and see what happens

Hope that helps.

It's working with the Java UI but not with the browser UI !! Is it a known bug ?

Adam Stoller

I've not heard of such a bug before - but I wonder whether the bug is that it starts with the Java UI and not that it doesn't start with the Browser UI.

Are you positive that the DCR in question is *not* part of any other active workflow at the time that you try to get it to kick-off from Save/Close of the Edit DCR window?

Have you verified any difference in behavior with respect to the debugging information from available_templates.ipl (as suggested earlier) between the use of the two UI's?

Hello

On debug mode nothing is happening when I 'm saving & closing, the File appears only when I submit ???
The tt_data seems to work only with the Java UI !! Is it a known bug ?

Thanks for the help

Are you sure the file is not already associated with a job (check File->File Properties or click Details). Because if it is, tt_data will not prompt you to start a new job for the file. This might be different in the Java UI.

What version (including SP) of TeamSite / TeamSite Templating are you using on what platform with what browser (browser version)?

We are using TeamSite 5.5.2 with SP2 on Sun Solaris 5.8 with Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1. I tried with Netscape 4.78 and I didn't work either.

Thanks for the help.

I was just able to reproduce the basic functionality working just fine in 5.5.2 SP1 and SP2.

I still think your branch specification is suspect:
<branch value="/Developpement/main/(toto)" include ="yes" />

Could you try removing the entire <branch_list>...</branch_list> clause from your available_templates.cfg file and try to test it again?

Am I correct in assuming that you are using Multi-Store, and hence have /Developpement/main instead of /default/main - and that is really the spelling of the archive name?

Do you really have a branch called "(toto)"?

Hello

I tried like you said without the entire branch_list and nothing is happening.

You are right about the multi-store and yes I have Developpement/main instead of /default/main.

Yes the name of my branch is toto.

I don't understand why it's working with the Java UI and not with the browser UI and I have no idea how to solve this problem since I don't have any log to tell me what's wrong even with the debug mode on, since the action tt_data seems not be recognized at all.

If you have any idea

Thanks

Olivier

Is the branch called "toto" or "(toto)" ? I.e. are there actually paren's around the branch name?

I just tested with 5.5.2 SP2 with a multi-store branch used and I got prompted for submitting / starting a job, so I don't think it's a problem with multi-store.

Could you please post (as an attachment) your entire available_templates.cfg file?

I am able to replicate that issue, except when I remove the branch_list is works fine. Add the branch list and tt_data doesn't work, submit still does.

<template_file active="yes" name="Submit Workflow" path="default/default_submit.wft">

<command_list>
<command value="tt_data" include="yes" />
<command value="submit" include="yes" />
</command_list>
<branch_list>
<branch value=".*/pgs_global_intranet" include="yes" />
</branch_list>
</template_file>

I tries a few other values in the branch list.

I have the same issue/result as Matt. Taking away branch_list is not acceptable, though -- we need 2 different wfs for 2 different branches.

I don't have a Solaris machine to play with right now - but with 5.5.2 SP2 on W2K - this seems to work just fine for me:

  <template_file name="Submit-1" path="devnet/submit_1.wft" active="yes">
    <command_list>
      <command value="tt_data" />
      <command value="all" include="no" />
    </command_list>
    <branch_list>
      <branch value="/training/main/safari"/>
      <branch value="all" include="no" />
    </branch_list>
  </template_file>

  <template_file name="Submit-2" path="devnet/submit_2.wft" active="yes">
    <command_list>
      <command value="tt_data" />
      <command value="all" include="no" />
    </command_list>
    <branch_list>
      <branch value="/default/main/devnet"/>
      <branch value="all" include="no" />
    </branch_list>
  </template_file>

If I'm in a workarea on /default/main/devnet I get one kind of submit workflow when closing a saved/modified DCR, and when I'm on /training/main/safari I get a different kind of submit workflow when closing a saved/modified DCR.

I'm finding that even when I put...
<role_list>
<role value='all' include='yes' allusers='yes'/>
</role_list>
...I do not get the workflow prompt when I save&close the DCR logged in as admin or master. But when I log in as editor or author, I get the prompt on the same file.
Not sure why it's working that way, but I hope that gives some insight?...

just for kicks, try adding more than one command and see if it still works, that is where I am having the issue.

<template_file active="yes" name="Submit Workflow" path="default/default_submit.wft">
<command_list>
<command value="tt_data" include="yes"></command>
<command value="submit" include="yes"></command>
</command_list>
<branch_list>
<branch value="default/main/boc/pgs/.*" include="yes">
<command value="all" include="no"/>
</branch>
</branch_list>

</template_file>

With the code above, submit works, tt_data doesn't. Remove the branch list and both work fine.

Thanks

(I'll assume that last <command> was supposed to be <branch>)

Yes, the last command is branch. Good catch (as usual ). That is how it is set in my avail templates and the tt_data still isn't starting.

This thread is getting kind of long - can't remember if I recommended this already.

Have you tried turning on debugging in available_templates.ipl to determine if it is getting invoked but not matching the criteria - or if it isn't getting invoked at all?

I'm pretty sure I've posted similar advice in this or other threads - so if you're not sure what I'm talking about search through the forums to see if you can find a more detailed description.

I am experiencing the same issues as Matt and Maureen. My template file definition is as follows:

<template_file name='AB STOP' path='tcpl/ab_stop.wft'>
<command_list>
<command value='tt_data' />
</command_list>
<role_list>
<role value='all' include='yes' allusers='yes'/>
</role_list>
<branch_list>
<branch value='test_cuss' include='yes' />
</branch_list>
</template_file>

Note that I have only one value in my command list. Also, I can add branch values and the workflow will not start but if I take away this branch value and leave the open and close branch_list tags, the workflow will start.

Fish - I was not able to determine if anything at all was happening in the available_templates.ipl. I set the debug flag to 1 as you instructed but no output was produced on any workflows. (Even those that are functioning on the submit command.)

Any ideas?

David

Adam Stoller

I don't have time right now to try anything out - so unless someone else chimes in with some ideas - the only suggestion I can make is to contact Interwoven Support and work with them to replicate the problem and track down a fix (if one already exists) or file a bug report (if not already filed).

Was a solution ever found to this problem ? Can anyone help me with it ?
Thanks.
