How can i conditionally display a text on a table cell?

Tried adding following expression using the expression builder; looks like i am missing some thing.

if(params["globalItemDropdown"]==1)
return 'Display This Text'
if(params["globalItemDropdown"]==0)
return 'Display Other Text'

The string needs to be returned like this: {"Hello"}

e.g.:

if (dataSetRow["CITY"]!="Nantes") {"Hello"} else {"Goodbye"}
