Question about drill-through-reports

I have a basic question about report with different detail-levels in a report. A simple example: On the first level I have companies, on the second level I have the employees. Is there a possibility to create a drill-through-report which shows both level in the same report and in the same table? At <a class='bbc_url' href='http://birtworld.blogspot.com/2008/05/birt-drill-through.html'>BIRT World: BIRT Drill Through</a> I found an article to create drill-through-reports - but the “second level” is opened in a new window in the report viewer. Is there a possibility to show the detail-rows directly under the first-level-row after a click on the company-name?

Hi Timo,

So, you'd like an "expandable" section through a drill through? Show just companies at first and if they click on a company you drill through to the list of companies with the one they clicked on showing the employees? Am I understanding correctly?

Yes - thats right. Like this after a click on company a:

Company A Germany Hannover
Employee 1
Employee 2
Employee 3
Company B Germany Hannover
Company C Germany Hannover

Take a look at this example. Run the master report then click different links to see the one you click on expand. The expanding was done with a parameter and visibility settings. Let me know if you have questions.

Hey,

Thanks for the great demo reports, they provided alot of useful information for me.

I would like to know if there is a way to maintain the information until it is collapsed, like the expansion + and - in windows explorer or similar. I would like to be able to expand multiple customers at the same time, and collapse customers when I am finished with them.

If this would be better in a new thread, please let me know, sorry for any inconvenience.

Take a look at this example. Took me a while to get all the checks down, but I think it should work without breaking. The work to keep track of open groups is done through the passed parameter value in the hyperlink on the outer table. The parameter value is passed into the query through the beforeOpen script of the dataSet. I also drop the inner table if the parameter value is empty. Let me know if you have any questions or if something breaks on you.
