Newbie-Question about interactive report-viewing
iparker
Hello,
I have a really basic question about the possibility of interactive reporting and the different and very powerful products round about BIRT. I’m not sure which products are necessary to allow the user to modify the data shown directly in the report, for example to choose the country or a date-range to specify the output-data.
Is this just possible with the BIRT Interactive Viewer? Or is there an extension for the open source version available too? I don’t mean to set a parameter before loading the report but directly in the report with a dynamic change of the data.
Thanks for some answers!
Timo

Hi Timo,
Aside from affecting the report with parameters, the Interactive Viewer is what you would want. There is not an extension to the open source sample viewer to enable this.
The Interactive Viewer is built on top of the Actuate BIRT Viewer and allows you to filter, sort, and group data (and much more). The Interactive Viewer allows you to perform these actions without re-running the report, or re-running queries in the report. You can also save all your changes as a new report design that can be run to pull in fresh data.

Hi Rob,
thanks for your answer! I will download the demo-version of the interactive viewer and test it a litte bit.
