Oraperl

Has anyone ever used Oraperl with TeamSite? I'd love to know about your experiences with it (installing, using) on either the Solaris (preferable) or Windows platform.
THANKS!

I have not used oraperl with TeamSite, but I have used oraperl in the past on a Unix platform. I definitely liked it for how it interfaced with Oracle. I'm not sure what the ramifications would be in using it in your externaltask scripts or custom menu scripts. In fact, I'm not sure what's different about iwperl than standard perl or why you couldn't use any perl you wanted, although there is no doubt that Interwoven won't support any other version of perl than the iwperl that ships with TeamSite.

Oooops. I just browsed around CPAN and discovered that Oraperl was built for Perl 4 and hasn't been updated for 5 (it's accessed via an emulation layer). And it doesn't support Oracle 8. Aaargh!
I had great experience using Sybperl on NT last year and was hoping Oraperl would be an Oracle equivalent. Oh well.
I guess this thread should segue to something like: Does anyone have a great success story regarding TeamSite and Oracle 8 on Solaris via Perl DBI? I've got some convincing to do in my shop regarding TeamSite using Oracle via the Perl DBI. My only experience with T & O thus far has been with DataDeploy on NT and I don't want to go that route again.

The major difference between iwperl and non-iwperl is that iwperl includes Interwoven Perl modules on a built-in
@INC
path. Also, I believe we ship with more "extra" perl modules than the standard distribution (i.e. things you could download from CPAN or such, but it comes bundled with ours)
If you are not attempting to use Interwoven modules in your perl code, you should be fine using any version of perl you can lay your hands on.
