Sorting tables
Rags
Hi,
Is there any way to sort tables without making a new request. I have seen reports which sort based on a new report param. But just for sorting hitting the database is not acceptable in my situation. Kindly suggest if there is any way to sort table using JS or something like that.
Regards,
Rags

Hi Rags,<br />

The only way I know how to do this with Eclipse BIRT is to rerun the report with different sort parameters. Actuate has an interactive viewer that allows for sorting on different columns, etc. This viewer can be used with Eclipse or Actuate BIRT.<br />

BIRT Interactive Viewer for End Users</a>

It is possible, but it requires a bit of coding to accomplish. The way that pops up off the top of my head is use something like an XML emitter and make your requests to BIRT via soap, and handle all your rendering in something like GWT or YUI. Then you just work with your XML result set in something like a list that can be easily sorted. Its possible, but not without coding on your end.
It is also possible to modify the ODA to do a stored resultset and just sort that. I've done similar things in the past for clients who didn't want to have to continually rerun requests for the same query.
The BIRT Interactive Viewer that Michael suggests handles all that for you, and is probably the easiest way to accomplish what you are looking for.

Hi John,
Can you please attach a sample that you have done where you are sorting tables using a stored dataset.
Thanks,
